Dynavisc – Adhesion Barrier Gel

Adhesions

Adhesions are bands of scar tissue found internally that can form after a surgery as the body tries to heal. Adhesions can have an effect on  normal successful procedure, making the patient feel pain, nerve stress, impaired motion and reduced quality of life.

Adhesion formation following surgery can disrupt the normal gliding motion of tendons and nerves, causing pain and majorly restricting motion. Post-surgical adhesions in the hand can produce tension which, if severe and long lasting, can lead to further nerve damage.

Dynavisc – Adhesion barrier gel

DYNAVISC is a clear, absorbable gel designed to coat surgically traumatized tissues during tendon and/or peripheral nerve surgeries such as in foot, knee, shoulder, and hand surgery. DYNAVISC acts as a temporary, protective barrier to separate tissues and to reduce fibrosis and the formation of post-surgical adhesions.

DYNAVISC is formulated from FzioMed’s world-leading biomaterial technology (CMC and PEO) and supplied ready-to-use in a 1mL syringe with a sterile, flexible applicator.

DYNAVISC is a clear, smooth gel that provides a clear view of tendon and neural structures during placement. The flowable, tissue adherent properties of DYNAVISC gel allow thorough tissue coverage. DYNAVISC is backed by the exceptional safety history of FzioMed’s biomaterial gel technology.

Morulaa Healthtech Pvt Ltd. is the licensed importer of DYNAVISC .

Advantages

The advantages of using DYNAVISC in Tendon/Peripheral Nerve surgery include:

Benefits

  • Exceptional safety
  • Ready to use
  • Fast application, thorough coverage
  • Clear and colorless, allows view of tendon and neural structures
  • Absorbable

Protects the Procedure

  • Separates and coats tissues
  • Reduces adhesions

Optimizes Healing

  • Moderates pain and symptoms
  • Fewer adhesions
  • Easier re-operations

DYNAVISC is intended to cover surfaces exposed during tendon and peripheral nerve surgery, such as those in the hand, foot, shoulder, and knee, to create a temporary mechanical barrier between tissues. DYNAVISC gel remains at the application site for a period of time, acting as an adhesion barrier while the wound heals. DYNAVISC is a bioabsorbable substance. The use of a temporary barrier gel like DYNAVISC has been found to minimise fibrosis and adhesion development. Because the adhesion barrier gel application technique is straightforward, distributors and dealers in India would find it easy to understand this product and help doctors understand it.

Tendon adhesion is caused by an inflammatory response at the surgical site as well as the lack of the normal physical separation between the tendons and the synovial sheath. Adhesions tie tendons and nerves to one another and to adjacent structures, preventing them from gliding normally. Adhesion formation after tendon surgery in the hand has a clinical outcome of decreased digital function and pain. Similarly, the connecting of nerves can cause stress, which can lead to ischemia and subsequent nerve injury if it is severe and protracted. Reducing the production of extraneural adhesions can enhance the surgical success and lower the risk of post-surgical complications.

A Better Biomaterial for Tendon & Peripheral Nerve Surgery

An effective adhesion barrier gel mechanically reduces the formation of the fibrin scaffolding between healing tissues where adhesion formation can occur. The ability of a gel to coat and separate tissues is related to the rheological properties of viscosity, elasticity, and pseudoplasticity. In addition, the gel must be well tolerated and must not interfere with normal healing.

DYNAVISC gel is formulated from FzioMed’s world-leading CMC/PEO biomaterial technology. Studies have shown that coating tissues with CMC/PEO gels can safely prevent the formation of adhesions without interrupting normal healing.

DYNAVISC is smooth and colorless, allowing a clear view of tendon and neural structures during placement. The flowable, tissue adherent properties of DYNAVISC gel allow thorough tissue coverage. DYNAVISC is backed by the exceptional safety history of FzioMed’s biomaterial gel technology.

Indication

DYNAVISC is intended to reduce fibrosis and formation of adhesions following tendon and/or peripheral nerve surgery.
